Promoting Your Tournament on Social Media: Some Tips and Tricks

Challonge is specifically designed to make managing tournaments, even the biggest ones, easy. You can run your own Fortnite, Clash of Clans, or FIFA 18 tournaments and have other players join in and have fun together. Aside from private tournaments, you can also use Challonge to run public events and more.

Setting up a tournament or an event is the easy part. To attract other players, you have to promote your tournament. Social media certainly makes promoting tournaments and events easier, and we are going to take a closer look at how you can promote yours effectively on popular social media sites. Let’s get started, shall we?

Use Great Visuals

No matter where you promote your tournament, having a great visual – or visuals – to go along with your tweets and Facebook posts is a must. Visuals stop viewers in their tracks; great visuals will attract more attention than you expect.

You don’t have to be a design genius to make great posters and visuals for your tournament. Simply use Adobe Spark to design flyers that are not only easy on the eyes but also effective and informative. The whole process of making your own flyers take only a couple of minutes with this app.

Add a Custom Hashtag

Hashtags are great for tracking your promotional campaign on social media. Creating a custom hashtag for your tournament makes keeping track of the exposure you get from social media promotions easier.

Think of a unique hashtag that goes along well with the tournament itself. Let users – potential participants – use the hashtags to further promote the tournament to their followers. You can even repost or retweet users’ posts to gain more exposure.

Work with Influencers

Working with influencers is also easier than you think. You start by finding influencers that are interested in competing in your tournament. Build a relationship with the influencers you have identified and promoting your current and future tournaments will be even easier.

Influencers that enjoy playing games and competing with their followers are more likely to promote your tournaments. You can offer incentives such as giving them a wildcard to get them to promote your tournaments. The presence of influencers in the tournament will also attract more participants.

Invest in Ads

When you have great social media posts with compelling visuals, investing in ads is well worth the exposure you get in return. For starters, social media ads are now very affordable; the ad networks are also easier to access since most of them come with administrative panels linked to your own accounts.

As an illustration, spending around $20 on Facebook ads let you gain thousands of views. Assuming you can attract 5% of viewers into competing, you are looking at hundreds of potential participants nonetheless.

Ads aren’t just for paid tournaments or events either. Since ads are very affordable, using them to promote free tournaments and events on social media is also a great way to leverage yourself as a host. Before you know it, the success of your tournaments will start to attract sponsors and more influencers.
